What’s your overriding emotion based on what happened on Saturday night?
Look, I haven’t got one. I thought it was a great fight. I thought Rico had done exceptionally well. For me, he got tired and he got fatigued, and he just made a mistake which we’d worked on for him not to do. That’s it. He made a mistake. He went forward. He went down. He threw some punches. I don’t know whether he landed or not. Then he came forward in the same position which, like somebody against Usyk is something you don’t do. So I think that’s a little bit of the disappointment for Rico is because he’d done what we’d worked on, even in the dressing room before the fight we discussed about this. But look, what he achieved and the pace he set and everything else, to get what he’s done there, made a mistake, but it all comes down to experience because to lead up to that, of course, and to lead up to the amount of fatigue that he ended up getting in the late rounds, it’s all down to ring experience. That’s all he needs is ring experience. But he’s done well.
And Usyk got the job done in the end.
You’re very gracious, Peter, talking about your man’s fatigue and getting tired. Lots of people in your position would just be screaming blue murder about the stoppage.
